The King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority launched an afforestation initiative aimed at rehabilitating and reviving Khabari Al-Samman in the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve, in partnership with Abdul Qader Al-Muhaidib Foundation for Community Service and Telad Environmental Consulting Company, which comes within the framework of the "Rehabilitation of Al-Fayyadh and Riyadh Initiative", which was recently launched by the Vegetation Cover Development and Desertification Control Center, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative. The initiative was launched in the presence of Eng. Maher bin Abdullah Al-Qathmi, CEO of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Muhaidib Group, Mr. Suleiman Al-Muhaidib, representing the Abdul Qader Al-Muhaidib Foundation for Community Service, and Dr. Mishaal Al-Harbi, Director General of the Rangelands Department of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development. The initiative aims to increase the vegetation cover in the reserve, in addition to improving the environment and raising awareness of environmental sustainability. The initiative focuses in its first phase on reviving three important Khabari: Khabari Ammia Za'ir North, Khabari Ammia Za'ir South, and Khabari Za'ir. It includes planting 3,000 sidr tree seedlings, 1,000 seedlings for each flood, in addition to planting 3,000 sidr trees in the valley near the flood as a first phase. Engineer Maher Al-Qathmi explained that this initiative reflects the keenness of the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority to enhance and develop biodiversity and preserve the natural resources in the reserve. It is the beginning of other projects in the Al-Samman region, aiming to revive natural areas affected by urbanization and enhance environmental sustainability in the Kingdom. For his part, Mr. Suleiman Al-Muhaidib pointed out that this initiative reflects the commitment of companies and institutions to social responsibility and environmental protection. The rehabilitation and revival of Khabari Al-Samman in the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is an important step towards achieving environmental sustainability goals and preserving the diversity of wildlife in the region. We hope that through our participation in this initiative, we will have a positive impact on the environment and set a model to be emulated in environmental conservation efforts. The initiative to rehabilitate and revive Khabari Al-Samman in the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is expected to continue over the coming years, as subsequent stages will include many environmental activities and projects aimed at promoting sustainable development in the region.
