This center has been built in accordance with the highest international standards that focus on creating exemplary facilities for individuals with disabilities. The Abdulkadir Al Muhaidib Social Foundation aimed to establish a sustainable model for education and rehabilitation of individuals with Down syndrome in the Eastern Province and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This vision materialized in the form of the Al Muhaidib Down Syndrome Center, known as "Hiba," which stands as a prominent institution in this field. The center was constructed over a period of six years, adhering to the highest international standards for facilities catering to people with disabilities. The construction was carried out under the supervision of Down Syndrome International Education.
The center encompasses a 6,200-square-meter building situated on a 15,000-square-meter land granted by the Ministry of Education. The remaining 8,800 square meters are dedicated to playgrounds and green spaces, promoting the mobility and well-being of beneficiaries. The center is staffed by a qualified team equipped with educational and rehabilitation skills, delivering services to Kindergarten through Secondary-level students.

Moreover, the center features a specialized library to support reading skills and features various play areas.

Sensory Therapy
Sensory therapy enhances a child's adaptability and life skills while improving their perception through direct environmental contact. It reduces stress, promotes a calm mood, and fosters the development of sensory-motor activity. This therapy forms the correct connections for brain development and enhances the capacity of the nervous system, resulting in improved overall functioning.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps to achieve normal stages of growth, which may take longer than usual, by strengthening weak muscles and soft joints. It includes activities and exercises that help develop motor skills, increase muscle strength, and improve balance.
Functional Therapy
Functional therapy helps individuals adjust daily tasks and circumstances to suit their needs and abilities. This type of therapy focuses on teaching self-care skills, such as eating, dressing up, writing and using a computer. A therapist may provide specialized tools to improve daily performance, such as pen holding training to strengthen fine motor muscles.
Playing and Children with Down Syndrome
A dedicated play area has been established to cater to the abilities of children with Down syndrome, enhancing their social and motor skills. Additionally, various playgrounds are available to promote social activities and overall well-being.
The Library
The library offers teaching aids and books customized in an accessible manner, specifically designed to cater to the needs of children with Down syndrome. These resources assist in improving their reading skills, enhancing communication, expanding vocabulary, and boosting the child's self-confidence through the development of language abilities. Additionally, the library incorporates sign language to support reading and overcome speech difficulties.
The Educational Staff at Hiba
The educational staff at Hiba is characterized by their expertise in education and rehabilitation, enabling them to effectively support and guide children with Down syndrome in all educational and behavioral aspects, providing them with comprehensive support.
